For our Ferry Elementary ornament, we did something a little different. While the other schools in our Grosse Pointe collection feature their buildings, Ferry has an icon all its own: Dexter.

Ferry Elementary is named for Dexter M. Ferry, and generations of Ferry students have grown up with his sculpture inside the school—including the tradition of touching Dexter’s head for good luck. For our holiday design, we’ve sent Dexter on a new adventure: riding alongside Santa in his sleigh.

It’s a playful tribute to something uniquely Ferry—a little school history, a beloved tradition, and a bit of Christmas magic all in one.
